MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — This early, the local government of Sta Fe in Bantayan Island has already started its preparations for the arrival of tourists who wanted to enjoy its white sand beaches and bask in the sun this Holy Week.

On Saturday, March 25, the municipal government organized a cleanup to rid its coastal areas of garbage.

Cleanup, appeal to tourists

The cleanup was participated by town employees and personnel of national line agencies.

And while they prepare to welcome guest, municipal officials are appealing to those who are coming for the Holy Week to also do their share in the preservation of the town’s beaches and marine resources.

“Subay niini, ang Lungsod sa Santa Fe nanawagan usab sa mga bisita nga sa ilang pag-abot unya sa isla ampingan usab nila ang bahandi sa Lungsod,” the municipal government said in a social media post.

(In line with this, the town of Santa fe is also calling on the visitors that when they arrive here in the island, they will also take good care of the wealth of our town.)

Santa Fe Coordination meeting

On Friday, March 24, Mayor Ithamar Espinosa also called for a coordination meeting with all the stakeholders to discuss  OPLAN Semana Santa 2023.

“Naghugpong og pwersa ang lungsod, kapolisan, coastguard, simbahan, ug uban pang mga stakeholders aron masiguro ang luwas nga pagtimaan sa Semana Santa 2023, diin gipaabot ang pag-dagsang sa liboan ka mga turista,” the municipal government said.

(The force of the town, police, Coast Guard, church and other stakeholders came together to ensure the safe celebration of the Holy Week 2023, where thousands of tourists are expected to arrive.)

“Ang Lungsod sa Santa Fe ubos sa pamunoang Ithamar Espinosa inubanan sa kapolisan ug sa uban pang mga stakeholders 24 oras nga magtukaw alang sa balaan ug malinawon nga pagtimaan sa Semana Santa karong tuiga,” it added.

(The town of Santa Fe under the leadership of Ithamar Espinosa together with our police and other stakeholders will be monitoring 24 hours a day for the safe and sacred celebrations of the Holy Week this year.)

Sta Fe town is a favorite tourism destination during the Holy Week and during the summer months because of its white sand beaches.
