Two riders die in road accidents in Cebu, Talisay cities in a span of 12 hours
Two motorcycle riders died in two separate road accidents in a span of more or less 12 hours on the afternoon of August 26 and in the early morning of August 27 in Cebu and Talisay cities.
At past 1 p.m. on August 26 at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City, a six-wheeler Isuzu Forward truck hit a motorcycle as it swerved to avoid hitting a passenger jeepney, which suddenly stopped in front of the truck.
At least 12 hours later or in the early morning of August 27, at past 12 a.m., another motorcycle rider died in a road accident in Talisay City.
Gun replicas covered by barangay, SK polls gun ban, public warned
The Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office (INPPO) has issued a warning against the carrying and transport of gun replicas during the gun ban period for the 2023 barangay and Sanggunian Kabataan elections which is set to begin on Monday, Aug. 28.
In a press briefing on Saturday, Aug. 26, Major Jephre Taccad, information officer of INPPO, said that the penalties for carrying real guns will be imposed on those bearing replica guns, including toy guys, airguns, airsoft guns, antique firearms, and other replicas or imitations of firearms.
Extend validity of drivers’ licenses, LTO urged
A party list lawmaker has urged the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to automatically extend the validity of drivers’ licenses for one year after a Quezon City court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) to stop Banner PlastiCard from delivering 5.2 million plastic ID cards.
In House Resolution 1203, AGRI Rep. Wilbert Lee said motorists should not suffer from the halted delivery of plastic cards by the winning bidder, Banner PlastiCard.
Collazo, WBO champ, makes Pinoy boxer Diagan quit in 7th round of title fight
The reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) world minimumweight champion Oscar Collazo easily defended his title against Filipino Garen Diagan on August 26, 2023 (August 27, Manila Time) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Collazo performed a masterful performance that was too much for Diagan, who refused to fight before the seventh round started.
