Elite tracksters to lead Cebu City in Batang Pinoy National Finals, PNG
CEBU CITY, Philippines— Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) tracksters are set to lead the 61-man Cebu City Niños track and field team at the upcoming Batang Pinoy National Championships and Philippine National Games (PNG) in Manila next week.
Arvin Loberanis, the head coach of the Niños, disclosed that the team will comprise 61 track and field athletes competing in both events against 200 other Local Government Units (LGUs), organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
Cebu City’s PNG competitors will consist of 35 track and field athletes aged 18 and above, vying for a spot in the national team.
Joining Coach Loberanis in coaching duties are Daniel Noval from the University of Cebu (UC) and James Ludweg Geconcillo from the University of San Carlos (USC).
Leading the charge in the athletics event for Cebu City is Artjoy Torregosa, the reigning fastest female 21-kilometer finisher of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.
Alongside Torregosa, Cesafi gold medalists from USC and UC, including Jesse Abelgos, Rick Angelo Sotto, Vanessa Rose Rota, Kristine Tabarno, Simoun Tautho, Franklyn Ferdie Yee, John Marvin Rafols, and Jeanly Rose Mata, will be part of the team.
The rest of Cebu City’s PNG track and field team includes Jerome Casinillo, John Marc Dizon, Christian Estella, Jan Moses Estrada, Jhon Eduard Gopo, Junryl Logronio, Christian Mequillo, Vincent Renz Linamas, Harli Bon Redulla, Jay Ryan Tayab, Junterlyn Barte, Shine Mae Cardona, Maria Eulalea Pineda, Madelene Kate Sinangote, Crystal Villanueva, Krystelle Leyson, Shanily Nierves, Judy Grace Repeso, Oswaldo Arcelo Jr., Fred Johnsun Binondo, and Haillie Fiedacan.
Meanwhile, the Cebu City Batang Pinoy tracksters include Cody Blake Renejane, Leica Jean Lanticse, Fransi Andrie Rosal, Jude Adrian Lugay, Denise Flores, Irish Susalo, Lyle Marwin Padillo, Enrico Dano, Vince Michael Dino, Isabelle Precious Pulgo, Chelsea Mae Beronga, Mohini Sadaya, Juliana Nicole Loberanis, Sean Kyle Carillo, Ray Clark Dela Calzada, John Loyd Enriquez, Kim Lorenz Licayan, Nino Daryl Menoria, Zhabdiel Navaja, Myles Andrew Tutor, Ryan Virtudazo, Amirah Lacanaria, Kiara Larsen, Angel Jia Sevilleno, Melanie Pulgo, and Kim Amber Tutor.
These young athletes are part of the 780-strong contingent from Cebu City participating in the two meets, departing for Manila on December 15.
