Miss Cebu 2023 Up Close: Patricia Gail Dueñas

We will finally witness the crowning of a new Miss Cebu 2023 today, January 11, 2023.

Miss Cebu is one of the highlights of the annual Sinulog Festival. The pageant began in 1983 and aims to “showcase the total beauty with the holistic personality of the Cebuana.”

This platform has been utilized to promote Cebu City’s tourism.

The Tourism Commission also emphasized the role of Miss Cebu as an inspiration and role model to young individuals and to the Cebuanos.

CDN Digital had a chance to speak with our 12 lovely candidates backstage and got to know them better personally. Here are some up close Q&A with Candidate No. 12 Patricia Gail “Trish” Dueñas, 24, from Talamban Cebu City.

Q: What makes you unique?

Patricia: My journey in life makes me different from everybody else. I believe each one of us has our own unique experiences and those experiences shape us into who we are. I’m grateful for everything that happens in my life, good and bad, for they made me into who I am today and they make me unique.

Q: Where is your favorite place in Cebu and why?

Patricia: My favorite place in Cebu has got to be the Tops Lookout in Busay. You can see the beautiful view of the whole of Cebu from there. I have many fond memories in Tops as I usually unwind and have deep talks about life there with my friends. I’m sad it’s closed now, but I’ll forever cherish the memories I’ve had in that place.

Q: What is your favorite Cebuano delicacy and why do you love it?

Patricia: Lechon is definitely my favorite Cebuano delicacy. Nothing beats the juiciness, crispiness, and amazing flavor of Cebuano lechon. It’s usually eaten at gatherings, so I can say that aside from being really delicious, it actually also brings people together.

I will do my best to use my platform to promote my advocacies and promote Cebu’s rich history, culture, nature, and people and bridge it to the world. I believe it is my heart and my strong sense of purpose that will make me a great Miss Cebu 2023.

Q: Which celebrity would you invite for dinner and why?

Patricia: The celebrity I would invite for dinner would definitely be Taylor Swift. I have been Swiftie (that’s what her fans are called) since I was 12 years old. She is the epitome of hard work and resilience as she continues to make amazing music despite everything that happened to her. It would definitely be one of my life’s biggest achievements to meet her.

Q: Why do you deserve to win Miss Cebu 2023?

Patricia: I deserve to win Miss Cebu 2023 because I know my purpose of being in this pageant and that is to become an ambassadress of Cebu. Miss Cebu 2023 is not only an honor, but it is also a responsibility and if I become the next Miss Cebu, I will do my best to use my platform to promote my advocacies and promote Cebu’s rich history, culture, nature and people and bridge it to the world. I believe it is my heart and my strong sense of purpose that will make me a great Miss Cebu 2023.
