MANILA, Philippines — Supertyphoon Betty (international name: Mawar) will be closest to the country, particularly extreme northern to northeastern Luzon, from Monday to Wednesday, the weather bureau on Saturday.
Betty, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early morning on Saturday, will also enhance the southwest monsoon (“habagat”) during that period, according to Dan Villamil, weather specialist for the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The CPA, in a social media post, said among the canceled sea trips as of Saturday morning were the following:
- Cebu to Bato, Leyte (via Medallon Transport Inc. with a scheduled departure time of 10 p.m. on Friday)

Much of the U.S. Western Pacific territory of Guam was without power and water on Thursday after a typhoon packing ferocious winds and torrential rains battered the island but caused no reported fatalities or major injuries.
Guam residents were ordered to boil their water until further notice as crews repaired generators damaged by Typhoon Mawar, according to local media and the Guam Waterworks Authority.
2 sea trips in Cebu City, Calbayog City temporarily suspended for maintenance, Mawar

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two sea trips in Cebu City and Calbayog City will be temporarily suspended for preventive maintenance and for Super Typhoon Mawar, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) announced on Friday morning, May 26, 2023.
In an advisory on social media, the PPA said the two suspended sea trips of Grand Ferries’ Seacat are:
- May 27, 2023 (2 p.m.)- Cebu City to Calbayog City
- May 28, 2023 (8 p.m.)- Calbayog City to Cebu City
“Pinapayuhan ng Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) ang lahat ng apektadong pasahero na makipag-ugnayan sa concerned shipping lines para sa karagdagang detalye,” it said.
These are the schedule of the two sea trips in Cebu City and Calbayog City that have been suspended.
Based on its continuing monitoring, Pagasa said Super Typhoon Mawar was last spotted 1,740 kilometers East of southeastern Luzon.
